Configuring Whisper/Shout
This enables you to shout to "linked channels" (ie. right click on a channel and select link) and allows individuals in other channels to hear you.

Navigate to:
Setting - Shortcuts - add
Click in the function box for the new button and select "whisper/shout"
Click in the Data box, then click the "..."
tick "ignore positional audio" if available
tick "Shout to channel" and in the "Channel Target" box select "Parent"
tick "Shout to Linked Channels"
click ok, Now click in the "shortcut" box, and press the key you wish to be assigned to whisper/shout.
then apply.

You do not need to link a channel to talk to it with this option, if you are in a subchannel of channel 1, everyone in every subchannel of channel 1 will hear you. people in channel1 and people in other root channels will not hear you. - SO if we are playing together either against each other, or together in separate squads, we need to be in a subchannel of the same parent chanel - ie alha and bravo of Americans etc...

The benefit is that your not going to be bombarded with info from people not in your squad - but are able to "shout" to them if you need to

Configuring Positional Audio
Navigate to:
Settings - tick the "advanced" check box
Clcik on "Audio Output" tab - tick "positional audio"
In the positional audio section I use the following settings:
Min Distance.....................5m
Bloom.............................100 %
Max Distance....................100.0m
Min Volume......................55 %
Click apply These settings are my prefference, it means noone is ever completely silent, but i can tell if they are close enough to me to count

Now go to the "plugins" tab, tick "link to game and transmit position"
Finally click "reload plugins"

ERROR : A referral was returned from the server
If you get this error, uninstall and reinstall mumble to the same directory.

This error is because the certificate has gone out of date.

Yup easily fixed - I was about to post the same thing then I saw your post Wyvern!

just a quick addition to Wyvern's comment though - you need to ensure you re-download the application from the website, as this will ensure the most up-to-date certificate is included.
